It feels like a bad idea.. don’t do this
You are not good enough for this
You haven’t done anything wrong, don’t worry
Often a lot of voices like these come from inside of us. It’s hard to place who is saying these, but these are meant for us and only we hear them. Sometimes we are all happy and excited about something, but the inner voice tells us that it’s a bad idea. Sometimes we are having a hard time, and the inner voice tells us that may be we are not good enough to be successful. And for some people the inner voice soothes them and tells them that it’s all going to be okay.
What I find most fascinating is that this inner voice always addresses me as “you”. So it’s definitely not me talking to myself. So whose voice is this inner voice that keeps talking to us every now and then?
I feel that as we are growing up, our parents or parent-like figures are the ones who we always look up to. From a very early age they provide us the validation that we use to determine if we are doing right, being good or otherwise. Overtime the parents’ interpretation of us takes over as our inner voice – and starts telling us what they would have told us. Perhaps our mind creates a manifestation of our parents and provides us their voice, that can make us feel sad in a happy situation or happy in a difficult one. I feel it’s important to understand this to know why your inner voice is telling you what it is telling you. But its even more important to know that as a parent or an influence on young kids, we might be contributing to the inner voice that they will build inside of them. Train their inner voice with responsibility, it will shape their happiness through their lives!
This is how I feel, how about you?
